IS IT HEALTHY TO EAT ONLY FRUIT FOR BREAKFAST?

This question was asked to me several times after I published the post about the importance of breakfast, you can read it here. Personally, I know people who apply this thinking it is healthy but is it really healthy ???

To be honest, sometimes I only eat fruit in the morning because I do not always have time to cook breakfast. In my case, the good news is this: as soon as I go to work, I will get to work and not think about food. I also do not belong to the group of people who live for good food. I'm the type of person who eats to live. You are probably familiar with Socrates' saying: "Some people live to eat, but I eat to live." And in cases when I eat only fruit in the morning, I am not a person who "dies" to eat after 1 hour because I quite successfully deal with the need for food. But, as I told you before, I sometimes eat only fruit in the morning and it is not okay to practice this habit every day. I know people who eat only fruit in the morning, but after 1 hour they need to eat a whole roasted giraffe.

Now I will explain briefly why eating only fruit for breakfast sounds like a good and healthy idea but if you do this every day you are making a big mistake.

The fruit contains a monosaccharide known as fructose, which very quickly makes a rapid jump in glycemia followed by increased insulin secretion. If you eat only fruit for breakfast, you run the risk of facing major hunger crises during the day because on the one hand there is insulin that will do its thing, and on the other hand are the few calories that fruit contains.

If you need to eat 2000 calories a day, what do you think: is it okay for breakfast to be 1 apple containing about 60 calories? You will have 1940 calories left for the whole day, which you will surely eat, concentrated in 1-2 meals. And because you ate fruit for breakfast, those two meals will be lunch and dinner. So if you have read my post about eating in the evening you will realize that you are making a big mistake especially if you want to lose weight.

Fruit is a great choice for breakfast but combined with other foods that will satisfy the percentage of macronutrients.

For example, chop 1 apple into cubes, add 1 tablespoon almond butter, 1 tablespoon raw pumpkin seeds, a little tahini, and 2-3 tablespoons boiled or soaked in water oatmeal. Here is a typical example of what a healthy breakfast should look like. Such a dish is a completely different story because here you have proteins and fats that complement the fruit perfectly.

Conclusion:

It is okay if sometimes you only eat fruit for breakfast in case you do not have time to cook a quality breakfast. But let it not be a daily routine because eating only fruit in the morning is a big mistake. A quality breakfast should provide your body with all the macronutrients: carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. If you eat only fruit, you are supplying your body with only one type of carbohydrate, fructose, which will instantly boost your energy. But, this is only momentary because the insulin that will be excreted in larger quantities from the pancreas will quickly reduce the level of glycemia and you will have: a drop in energy, a crisis of eating, and so on. When you go on a long trip, you need to refuel your car with quality fuel to get to the destination you have decided to go to. But if you leave with a half-empty tank, the car is more likely to leave you in the middle of the road. The same thing happens with your body when you eat only fruit for breakfast.
