Warm days remind us every day how important it is to drink
water more often. In summer when the temperatures are really high, the intake
of enough fluids in the body is crucial for good health. Proper hydration of
the body is especially important because water makes up 60-70% of our body. It
is especially important to pay attention to water intake if you exercise because the body loses a lot of water through sweating during any physical
activity.
Water does not contain calories and has no taste so there is
no reason why you should not drink it. Although almost all of us know how
important hydration is, some of us simply forget how important water is, and as a result dehydration occurs. That's why I share with you 6 tips on how to stay
hydrated throughout the day.
Wake up with a glass of water
A glass of water right after waking up is a great way to
start the day. That way, you will hydrate your body after sleep and acquire a healthy habit that will make you feel better and healthier.
A glass of lukewarm water with lemon and honey is also a great option for
morning hydration and waking up.
Keep track of how
much water you drink per day
If you are not
sure how much water you drink during the day, try to write it down, or there
are applications with which you can keep records or remind you to drink water.
Keeping track of how much water you drink during the day will give you insight
into how close you are to your needs. In a way, it will be a reminder to drink
more, ie as much as you need.
Before you start
eating, make sure you are not thirsty
We often confuse
thirst with hunger. If you feel hungry and know it is not the time to eat, try
drinking a glass of water. Here is an interesting suggestion for the moments
when you will feel "fake" hunger - water with apple and cinnamon.
Replace
carbonated and sweetened juices with naturally squeezed ones
We all know how
good cold beer is on hot summer days, but if you want to lead a healthy life
and take care of your calories, replace fizzy and sweetened juices with
naturally squeezed ones.
Carbonated and
sweetened juices will not quench your thirst, they are full of sugars and
hidden calories. If you have a craving for juice, make your own home-squeezed
juice from your favorite fruit.
Eat foods rich in
water
Cucumbers,
peppers, celery, lettuce, zucchini, watermelon, peaches, strawberries are just
some of the foods that are rich in water and that will increase your daily
water intake without noticing. You can eat them as a snack between meals or
combine them with the already planned healthy meal
Drink unsweetened
teas
Tea is a drink
that reminds us of winter, but the cold variant is great for hot summer days.
Additionally, you can make ice cubes with fruit or mint leaves that will give a
special aroma and taste to the tea. If you drink it unsweetened, tea has 0
calories just like water, and it is just as tasty as sweetened
